Basket Assembly Machine

A conveyor feeds the empty baskets to a dead track where they are picked and placed 2 at a time into a double nest on a 16 position indexed dial plate. A generant disk is then bowl fed and placed into the bottom of each basket. A series of conveyors feed the propellant wafers from a wafer press in another room to the machine where they are split into two lanes and the required number of wafers is automatically stacked. Two of the stacks of wafers are then transferred into the two baskets in the index table. A generant spacer is then bowl fed and placed into each basket and the baskets are crimped closed. Good parts are offloaded and simultaneously loaded into nests on a 16 position indexed dial plate where a reel-fed label is printed and affixed to the top of the part and the parts are offloaded into a replaceable good part tray. Reject parts are offloaded into a dual track reject part tray.

A solid-state programmable controller operates the sequence with an easily accessible control panel including Main Power, Emergency Stop, Start, Cycle Stop, Reset and Immediate Stop push buttons. Additional Human Machine Interface is provided by a PC running a program written in Visual Basic.

CYCLE RATE – 15 parts per minute

CONSTRUCTION – Heavy duty welded and powder coated tubular frame with adjustable levelers. Materials and finishes used are appropriate for the work environment. This machine is designed to allow the operator full visual contact with all components being processed and easy access for routine maintenance.

SAFETY – Meets OSHA Safety Standards. Safety-sensitive areas of this machine are enclosed and accessed through interlocked doors which stop the machine when opened. Emergency Stop controls are provided which stop the machine when activated.
